The CONSTRUCT2010 Student Design Competition:
Competition Basics
Following is some basic information on the Student Design Competition. Once a team is registered, you will receive access to a downloadable PDF with complete competition information, requirements, rules and regulations, as well as contact information for the CSI Competition Chair.
Note: Once you register, you will begin to receive emails with more detailed competition information. Please look out for these!
Competition Basics:
Teams: You will work in minimum two (2) person teams, maximum three (3) person teams; no individual member teams, or teams with four or more members will be allowed. The competition is limited to 60 students. Once we have 60 students, competition registration will be closed.
Key Dates and Deliverables Due:
April 21st: Boards due to Student Design Competition Chair, CSI Philadelphia Chapter, for preliminary judging on April 26th. The top five (5) teams will be required to send their completed birdhouse for final judging and will be notified the following day, April 22nd.
May 1st: Constructed bird houses by top five (5) teams due to Student Design Competition Chair, CSI Philadelphia Chapter, for final judging during CONSTRUCT2010
Deliverables:
The following will be turned in for preliminary judging. These boards will be kept for final judging (top five teams) and display (all teams) at the convention; boards and houses will be returned to students after the convention:
Judging:
Teams will be judged on the following:
Judging will be divided into two phases: Preliminary and Final Judging. Preliminary judging of all entries will be done by the Philadelphia Chapter of CSI, general membership. The top five entries will then be asked to ship their constructed birdhouse to Philadelphia for final judging during Construct 2010. The final judging panel will be composed of invited judges from CSI National and/or CSI College of Fellows. All competition boards will be on display however, so that all convention attendees can view all team entries.
Stipends:
All accepted teams will receive a stipend to cover shipping costs of the boards, and for the top five teams, the constructed birdhouse as well.
Teams will also each receive a small materials stipend of $50.00; please note that use of found and salvaged materials is strongly encouraged.
Accepted teams will automatically be eligible for the stipends. Checks will be mailed to the primary team member by April 1.
